Kimberly
Amato was born on July 3, 1976, in Plainview, NY. Growing up in Hicksville,
she attended a Catholic grammar school and high school. Although Kimberly’s
grades were good, she preferred stage crew and the softball field to her classrooms.
After high school Kimberly attended Hofstra University and obtained her Bachelors
of Arts in the field of Psychology. In 2001, she obtained her masters degree
in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
During
her years of school Kimberly has always pursued acting and writing. From her
school plays to extra work or being a published poet and editorialist, Kimberly
has never lost sight of her goal: to succeed in the entertainment industry.
Throughout college Kimberly attended “Xena: Warrior Princess” conventions dressed
as “Gabrielle”. Winning countless competitions, Kimberly said the best moment
was meeting Renee’ O’Conner’s mother. The two had idle conversation and Kimberly
was amazed by Mrs. Wilson’s comment about Kimberly’s similar look to her daughter.
“Whether it was a passing comment or the truth, it was nice of her to say.”
Kimberly was even featured with some other look-a-likes in the February 1999
issue of People Magazine.
Solely
focused on her acting, Kimberly found a voice in the short film “Amity” by Tony
Cohen. “Being on that set really opened my eyes. I wanted to do more to help
out the crew, but I was only signed on as an actor.” Kimberly was immediately
drawn to the actions behind the camera as well as her actions in front of it.
Kimberly helped produce a few shorts (un-credited) as well as production assistant
on a few commercials. Her pride and joy is a film she wrote, produced and starred
in.
That experience has led Kimberly to join the team of Lights Point Cinema. Kimberly looks forward to working along side Mike and Matt for features, shorts, commercials and music videos. “There is an energy about this team that I love. No holds barred and no boundaries, it is a great environment to work in. It’s a perfect fit for me.”
